Today we drove up north of Madrid to Segovia. Segovia is famous for it's aqueduct which was built at the end of the 1st century by the Romans who turned this town into a military base. It was in use until the late 19th century. Very impressive! Also, the huge Gothic cathedral stands out as a landmark along with a beautiful castle-Alcazar de Segovia. As you can see from the photos, we walked up beautiful winding streets, (hugging the sides of the streets as cars raced by)- visited the castle inside and out, had a great picnic with good baguette sandwiches and caught views of the aqueduct from our car-we were tired by the end of the day! Segovia is such a beautiful place to visit in Spain-the countryside is amazing.

What an interesting looking castle. Not what I would imagine, at all. It looks like beautiful spring weather!
Oops-my bad. I meant to say "Gothic cathedral" instead of castle-just corrected it. The cathedral was so big but the "real" castle-in one of the top photos, was so clean and well-kept. I think it dated back to at least 1120.
