Pizza Planet-our favorite!
Trevi Fountain-so many people there that day
Spanish Steps-a favorite gathering place in Rome
Okay, I really have to get this trip blogged and over with! After all, we have been home for 3 months now. Anyway, the day we went to Rome was June 2nd-a national holiday. Everyone was out and around in the city. Our bus dropped us off right by Saint Peter's Square and wouldn't you know it-it was Wednesday, the day the Pope comes out and speaks to the people. Just as we arrived, the Pope was riding around in his "Popemobile" and we were fortunate to be able to see him from a distance.
We saw a protest against the war in Afanistan near Castel Sant Angelo, Jets flying over with the Italian colors in their jetstream, the Pantheon, thousands of people at Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, and the Roman Forum. We ate at Pizza Planet-near Trevi Fountain. Such amazing pizza-thin, crispy crust-fresh tasting and they sell it by weight. We ate the most amazing gelato-Brent had banana and I had coconut. We walked all over Rome-shoulder to shoulder (almost) with all the crowds but it was a great day in the city.

Two peas in a pod. Every time we had gelato in Italy this last time, Brett chose banana. Love the pics!
What a cool day to be there with all that going on. Banana gelato sounds delish, but then, so does coconut. Mmmm....
