Party x 2

Saturday was party day at the Ross Home. We had a baby shower brunch in the morning for Jennilee and her "expected soon" baby-Velzy. It was fun to get together with all her friends and our family. I made a baby quilt to go under the diaper cake and also a banner for Jennilee to hang in Velzy's room. We had delicious scones-cranberry orange, maple-oatmeal, and vanilla bean. Thank you Ina Garten and the Pioneer Woman Cooks for the recipes. We also had a breakfast casserole and fruit with dip.
Jennilee now has so many cute little outfits in which to clothe her little girl. Some of the other gifts were a new baby bathtub and a beautiful baby basket from Bob and Carla for Velzy to sleep in!

After the baby shower, we switched gears and prepared for the afternoon birthday party for Cache. It was planned as a pool party and thankfully the weather turned HOT (over 100 degrees). We had a great turn out. Parents, babies and kids all over the place. Jennilee made fun party hats and a "favor cake" for the guests. For directions on the favor cake go here.
The theme of the party was "Where the Wild Things Are". Jennilee made a darling cake with fondant of one of the monsters from the book. Her friend Rachel helped her paint "Max" on a big board with the face cut out so people could get their picture taken as Max.
Everyone really enjoyed themselves but really-I would suggest just having one party a day-I am still recovering!

Lots of work, but so much fun! You all did a darling job with the decorations, food, everything. I heard there were babies everywhere for the afternoon party. Hope Cache enjoyed himself. Happy birthday, little man!!!

I want to get my picture taken in the cut out. I sure hope that thing sticks around so that I get the chance. Great decorations for both fiestas. Awesome job ladies.
