I saw a bag like this in a little knitting shop in La Mesa so I found the free pattern on the web and tried my hand at knitting and felting the bag. I washed it in hot water, twice-just to make sure the stitches came together really tight. (To felt the bag-you have to wash it in the washing machine using HOT water.) It magically shrinks and turns into a whole different-looking bag than what you knitted.
The bag from the knitting shop had some embellishments on it so I tried my hand at doing something similar! This bag is fast, easy, and fun to make. Try it!

Mom, that is sooo cute! I guess I'd have to learn how to knit first. I love your embellishments...pretty!
Now that I think about it, it reminds me of that wool sweater of yours that you had knitted in jr.high that I managed to wash, dry & shrink when I was in jr. high. I bet you could've turned that into a buttonhole bag! See, if we had only known.
